Buyer Rules
These Buyer rules form part of the User Agreement and apply whenever you bid on, buy, or commit to buy an item on Budna. They work together with Buyer Protection and the Payment Terms.

Policies that form part of this agreement
1. Bids and purchases are binding
1.1 Placing a bid or completing a purchase creates a binding purchase agreement directly between you and the seller. Budna is not a party to that agreement and is not an auctioneer.
1.2 Each bid placed via Budna constitutes a binding declaration of intent under Avtalslagen (1915:218) §1 and is irrevocable once submitted, subject to the narrow grounds set out below.
1.3 Read the listing carefully before you commit, including the condition grade, photos, description, price, and shipping terms.
1.4 Retraction of a bid is permitted only on the following grounds:
- Obvious typographical error: the submitted amount is at least twice (greater than 2x) the intended amount and the error is manifest on its face (for example, 10 000 SEK entered for 100 SEK). This is treated as a förklaringsmisstag under Avtalslagen §32 first paragraph.
- Material change to the listing: the seller has materially altered the listing description, condition statement, or lot composition after the bid was placed.
- Verified system error: Budna confirms through server logs and identity verification that a technical fault on the platform caused the bid.
1.5 Process for retraction
You must contact support within twenty-four (24) hours of bid submission, or within twenty-four (24) hours of becoming aware of the grounds for retraction, whichever is later, and in any case before the listing ends. All retraction requests and decisions are logged.
Where retraction is granted on the ground of typographical error, you must immediately submit a corrected bid at the intended amount.
Repeated or bad-faith retraction requests may result in account suspension and forfeiture of Buyer Protection. Conduct that meets the threshold of handlande mot tro och heder under Avtalslagen §33 will not be accepted as a basis for retraction.
2. When you may withdraw from a purchase
2.1 You are generally expected to complete a purchase you have committed to. Outside the statutory rights set out below, you may decline to pay only where: the seller materially changed the description, or there was a clear typo or error in the listing; or the seller cannot be contacted or fails to fulfil the sale. Raise the reason with the seller or with Budna support before the order closes. If the seller agrees, the seller can cancel the order at no cost to you as long as the payment deadline has not passed. If Budna accepts the reason, or if a fault in Budna’s or the payment provider’s systems prevented payment, no fee is charged for the unpaid order, and a fee that has already been registered is waived as long as it has not been paid (see 3.6 and 3.7).
2.2 Trader-to-consumer purchases (Sweden): you have a 14-day right of withdrawal under Lag (2005:59) om distansavtal och avtal utanför affärslokaler, 2 kap. (Distansavtalslagen). The withdrawal period runs from receipt of the goods. You may exercise the right by using the standardised withdrawal form available at Model withdrawal form or by notifying the seller in any other clear way. If the item has not yet been sent or handed over, you as a consumer can instead cancel the order in Budna and get back everything you have paid, including shipping and fees; this does not apply to purchases made with a company account. Otherwise you book and pay for the return shipping yourself and send the return tracked; if the item was sent as a parcel through Budna, you can book the return in Budna. The return must be sent within 14 days of your notice of withdrawal. Return shipping you have booked and paid cannot be cancelled, and if the return is not sent in time it lapses in Budna and the return shipping is not refunded; your statutory right of withdrawal is not affected, but the seller then handles the refund directly with you. You get back everything you have paid except the Buyer Protection fee, which is retained because you have used the service. If the seller does not collect a return parcel you booked in Budna, the refund is made anyway; if the parcel comes back to you, you keep the item available to the seller for 30 days and send it to the seller at the seller’s expense if the seller asks. If the payment has already been released for payout to the seller when you exercise the right of withdrawal, the seller repays you directly (see Shipping and pickup and the Payment Terms).
2.3 Consumer-to-consumer (C2C) sales are not covered by the statutory withdrawal right set out in 2.2. Refund availability for such sales depends on the seller’s stated returns policy and, where eligible, on Buyer Protection. Buyer Protection is a discretionary facility offered by Budna subject to the eligibility conditions and the per-claim and per-seller-annual caps set out in the Payment Terms; it is not insurance and not a guarantee of refund. The seller remains under a duty not to misdescribe the item or conceal known defects. You and the seller can also agree on a return, in messages or by asking for a return in a dispute; the seller then approves it on the order in Budna, and you send the return tracked. If the payment is still held, the item price and the shipping are refunded through Budna, but not the Buyer Protection fee and the Service fee. You pay the return shipping, and the return must be sent within 7 days of the seller approving it. If Budna instead decides that your Buyer Protection claim is valid – the item does not match the description or has been damaged – and that the item must be returned, Budna gives you a free return label if the item was sent as a parcel through Budna, and you must use it; otherwise you send the return tracked in your own way and are reimbursed for the documented cost of the return shipping through Buyer Protection. The return must then be sent within 7 days of Budna’s decision, and when it arrives you get back everything except the Buyer Protection fee, including the Service fee. Budna may require the item to be returned before you are refunded. Where a return label has been booked, you always have at least 7 days from the booking to hand in the parcel, and a return label that has been booked and paid cannot be cancelled. If the return is not sent in time, it lapses in Budna, and return shipping you have paid for is not refunded. If the dispute the return came from ends before the parcel has been handed in – because you settle, because you withdraw the dispute or because Budna decides it without a return – the return is closed automatically, and return shipping you have paid for is refunded. If the seller does not collect the return parcel, the refund is made anyway (see 2.2). If the seller has already been paid, you and the seller agree on the refund (see Shipping and pickup and the Payment Terms).
2.4 Exceptions from the right of withdrawal. For consumer purchases from business sellers, the withdrawal right under section 2.2 does not apply to certain categories of goods and services. The main exceptions under Distansavtalslagen (2005:59) 2 kap. 11 § and Consumer Rights Directive Art. 16 are: (a) goods made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised; (b) goods that deteriorate or expire quickly; (c) sealed goods unsuitable for return for health-protection or hygiene reasons where the seal has been broken after delivery; (d) goods that after delivery are, by their nature, inseparably mixed with other items; (e) sealed audio or video recordings or computer software whose seal has been broken after delivery; (f) digital content not delivered on a tangible medium where performance has begun with the consumer’s express prior consent and acknowledgement of the loss of the withdrawal right; and (g) auctions where the consumer can attend in person (see 2.5). The cited provisions contain the full list and the detailed conditions.
2.5 Online auctions are not "public auctions" for withdrawal-right purposes. The withdrawal-right exception for purchases at a "public auction" under Distansavtalslagen 2 kap. 11 § and Consumer Rights Directive Art. 16(k) does not apply to auctions conducted on Budna. That exception requires the consumer to be able to attend the auction in person. Online auctions on Budna are distance contracts and the right of withdrawal applies in full to purchases from business sellers.
3. Paying
3.1 Pay through Budna’s checkout. Never pay outside Budna. Off-platform payments are not protected.
3.2 Card payments require Strong Customer Authentication (3-D Secure).
3.3 Keep your address details on Budna accurate. Depending on the delivery method, the item is sent to the service point you choose before paying or to your address, or handed over in person at pickup (see Shipping and pickup).
3.4 Payment deadlines. Pay for an auction you have won within 3 days of the auction ending — a final deadline, after which the order closes and can no longer be paid — and for an accepted offer or counter-offer within 3 days of its acceptance. A Buy Now purchase where you choose delivery, see the total and confirm the purchase before paying (a binding Buy Now purchase) becomes binding as soon as you confirm it: pay for it within 3 days of confirming, which is also a final deadline. A Buy Now purchase where the order is only created when you start paying is a reservation: it reserves the item for you for the short period shown as a countdown at checkout, and a combined-shipping request has its own payment window; if you do not pay in time, the reservation lapses and no fee is charged. An auction, offer or binding Buy Now order that you include in a combined-shipping request keeps its own deadline and fees. See Payment Terms.
3.5 After the payment deadline. An auction order you have not paid within 3 days, or a binding Buy Now purchase you have not paid within 3 days, closes at that deadline and can no longer be paid; the seller may also close it in the short interval before that happens. For an accepted offer, the seller may close the order once 3 days have passed, and until the seller closes it you can still pay for a further 3 days, that is up to 6 days after the acceptance; after that the order closes automatically. If you pay before the order closes, the purchase completes normally and no fee is charged. See Payment Terms.
3.6 Non-payment fee. If an auction, offer or binding Buy Now order closes without your payment, whether the seller closes it or it closes automatically, you owe Budna a non-payment fee. It is calculated on the item price excluding shipping using the same formula as the Buyer Protection fee, with a minimum of 25 SEK and a cap of 499 SEK. It applies whether or not Buyer Protection covered the purchase, and it does not buy any protection. Examples: for an item priced at 150 SEK the fee is 25 SEK; for an item priced at 1 000 SEK it is 35 SEK. See Payment Terms.
3.7 Cancelling. If you cancel an unpaid auction, offer or binding Buy Now order yourself, the order closes and you owe Budna a buyer cancellation fee of 50 SEK instead of a non-payment fee. At your request, Budna may waive it if you had to cancel because of circumstances beyond your control (force majeure). Cancelling an unpaid Buy Now reservation (3.4) or combined-shipping request costs nothing but counts as an abandoned reservation (3.9). See Payment Terms.
3.8 Restriction until paid. While a fee under 3.6, 3.7 or 3.11 is unpaid, you cannot buy with Buy Now, start a checkout, request combined shipping, bid or set automatic bids, make or raise offers, accept counter-offers or second-chance offers (3.12), publish, relist or restock listings or create listings as active, or buy boosts or search priority. When the fee arises, your automatic bids are stopped and your pending offers are withdrawn; bids you have already placed remain binding. You can still pay existing orders and fees, send messages, pursue disputes, confirm delivery, save drafts and handle your own sales, and your live listings stay live. The restriction lifts automatically once all such fees are paid or waived. See Payment Terms.
3.9 Abandoned reservations. A Buy Now reservation or combined-shipping request that you do not pay in time, or that you cancel, counts as an abandoned reservation; a combined-shipping request counts once. A binding Buy Now purchase is not a reservation and is never counted; 3.5 to 3.7 apply to it instead. If you abandon 3 reservations within a rolling 60-day period, you receive a warning and Budna staff are notified so that they can review your account. The warning itself carries no fee and no restriction. See Payment Terms.
3.10 Failures that are not your fault. A reservation does not count as abandoned if it lapsed because of a fault in Budna’s or the payment provider’s systems or for a reason on the seller’s or Budna’s side, such as the seller being unable to receive payments or the listing being removed, or if the cause cannot be established. If such a fault prevented you from paying an auction, offer or binding Buy Now order, no non-payment fee is charged, and a fee that has already been registered is waived as long as it has not been paid; contact support if this applies to you.
3.11 Fee for clear abuse. If a review by Budna staff shows that you have clearly abused reservations, for example by repeatedly reserving items without paying so that others cannot buy them, Budna may impose a non-payment fee calculated on the item price of one of your reservations that closed unpaid. Budna informs you of the decision and the reasons for it, the fee triggers the restriction in 3.8, and you can complain about the decision under the Budna rules.
3.12 Second-chance offers. If you bid in an auction and the winner does not pay, the seller may offer you the item at a price the seller sets, which is never higher than the winning price but can be higher than your own bid. At most 3 bidders are offered it, one at a time in order of their bids, and you have 24 hours to accept or decline before the offer passes to the next bidder. You are free to decline. Accepting is binding: it creates an order you must pay within 3 days of accepting, under the same rules as an auction win, including the non-payment fee in 3.6 if the order closes unpaid. While you owe a fee under 3.6, 3.7 or 3.11 you cannot accept a second-chance offer (3.8). The seller may withdraw an offer that is still open. See Payment Terms.
4. Receiving and inspecting
4.1 Collect or accept delivery promptly.
4.2 You have a 48-hour inspection window after receiving an item that has been sent to accept it or raise an issue (see Buyer Protection). For pickup, you inspect the item at the handover: once you have scanned the seller’s code and approved the item, the payment is released to the seller at once, and there is no inspection window afterwards (see Payment Terms, section 2.3).
4.3 For trader-to-consumer purchases, Konsumentköplagen (2022:260) 9§ governs conformity with the contract, and 13§ provides that a defect appearing within 24 months of delivery is presumed to have existed at delivery unless the seller proves otherwise.
4.4 Reklamation period for used goods. Budna does not shorten the statutory reklamation period for consumer purchases of used goods from business sellers. The full statutory period under Konsumentköplagen (2022:260) applies to used goods sold by business sellers on Budna in the same way as to new goods.
4.5 Delivery time (B2C purchases). For consumer purchases from business sellers, the seller shall deliver the goods without undue delay and no later than 30 days after the contract is concluded unless otherwise expressly agreed, in accordance with Konsumentköplagen (2022:260) 5 kap.
4.6 Buyer’s rights in case of late delivery (B2C purchases). If the seller does not deliver within the 30-day period (or any otherwise agreed time), the buyer may set a reasonable additional period for delivery. If the seller still fails to deliver within that additional period, or if the delay is of material importance, the buyer is entitled to cancel the contract and receive a full refund in accordance with Konsumentköplagen. The buyer may also be entitled to damages.
4.7 Items that are not sent. If the seller has not sent the item 7 days after you paid – for a parcel through Budna the carrier has not registered the parcel, for shipping the seller arranges the seller has not marked the order as shipped – Budna cancels the order automatically, and you get back everything you have paid for the order, including the shipping, the Buyer Protection fee and the Service fee, to your original payment method. This does not apply to pickup or in-store purchases. You can also open a dispute as soon as the item has not been sent within 5 days of payment; if the item was never sent or handed over, you then get back everything, including the Buyer Protection fee (see Shipping and pickup).
5. Acting in good faith
5.1 Do not raise false or exaggerated claims, keep an item while seeking a refund you are not entitled to, or misuse chargebacks. Repeated or bad-faith disputes may lead to claims being denied, account limits, or a ban (see Budna rules and Safety).
5.2 Treat sellers respectfully and communicate through Budna.
6. Reviews
6.1 Leave honest, relevant reviews in line with the Review rules.
6.2 Reviews of sellers on Budna are submitted only by verified buyers who have completed a purchase. Sellers may review buyers for paid purchases, and for auction, offer or binding Buy Now orders that closed unpaid where the order gave rise to a non-payment fee or a buyer cancellation fee that Budna has not waived. Budna does not pay for reviews and does not alter their content. Sellers may reply to a review but cannot delete it. Budna applies automated and manual checks to detect fake reviews and removes those it identifies, in accordance with Consumer Rights Directive Article 7(6) and Annex I points 23a and 23b of the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive as amended by the Omnibus Directive.
