Accessibility statement
Budna Marketplace AB is committed to making its consumer-facing services accessible in accordance with Directive (EU) 2019/882 (the European Accessibility Act, EAA) as implemented in Sweden through the Act on Certain Products and Services with Accessibility Requirements (2023:254). This statement applies to the website budna.se and the Budna iOS and Android applications.
Budna Marketplace AB · Effective from November 1, 2025 · hello@budna.se · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Scope and applicability
Budna is not a micro-enterprise under the European Accessibility Act. We therefore apply the EAA accessibility requirements in full to our consumer-facing services, including budna.se and the Budna iOS and Android applications.
Compliance status
Budna is partially compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA and the harmonised standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The following content is not yet fully accessible:
Non-compliance with EAA / WCAG 2.1 AA
- Some auction-listing images lack descriptive alternative text (WCAG 1.1.1). Listings are user-generated; we prompt sellers to add descriptions but cannot guarantee quality.
- Live bidding countdowns update frequently and may not be fully announced by all screen readers (WCAG 4.1.3).
- Some legacy PDF documents (older terms revisions) are not tagged for accessibility (WCAG 1.3.1).
- Certain third-party payment and identity widgets (payment and identity providers) are embedded as-is and may not meet AA contrast or focus-visibility criteria (WCAG 1.4.3, 2.4.7).
Disproportionate burden
- Retro-fitting historical user-generated listings (pre-November 2025) with accessibility metadata has been assessed under EAA Art. 14 as a disproportionate burden. New listings are subject to accessibility prompts.
Content outside the scope of the legislation
- User-generated text, images, and video uploaded by sellers (EAA Art. 2(4) exclusion for third-party content not funded, developed, or controlled by Budna).
- Archived terms-of-service revisions published before 28 June 2025.
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 1 November 2025. It is reviewed at least annually, or when significant changes are made to the service.
Assessment methodology
Compliance was assessed by Budna engineering using:
- Self-assessment against WCAG 2.1 AA and EN 301 549 V3.2.1.
- Automated testing with axe-core and Lighthouse on key user journeys.
- Manual testing with keyboard navigation and screen readers (VoiceOver on iOS/macOS, TalkBack on Android, NVDA on Windows).
- Review of colour contrast, focus order, and resizable text on critical flows (browse, bid, checkout, account).
